IT RADIO NETWORK IS NOW FEATURING A ROUNDTABLE INTERVIEW WITH HOOVERS ONLINE CEO PATRICK SPAIN AND INDUSTRY STANDARD EDITOR JONATHAN WEBER
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA October 31st, 2000 -- IT Radio Network, "The Voice of eBusiness," is now featuring an in-depth roundtable interview with Patrick Spain, CEO of Hoovers Online (Nasdaq: HOOV) and Jonathan Weber, Editor of IDGs Industry Standard publication.
During the roundtable, along with IT Radio Network host Marc Holland, Spain and Weber discussed the future of content, whether people will ever pay for it on the Web and online banner advertising.
According to Spain and Weber, content is not dead, just taking a break. "I think the notion that content is dead is way overblown and is partly a function of the faddishness of Wall Street," said Weber. "I think content on the Web has a great future."
Spain and Weber also discussed the topic of relevance as it pertains to paying for content on the Web. "I dont think its about relevance. I think its about trying business models," said Spain. "If you can help people in some way, preferably one that involves money, then you can get paid for it."
Spain and Weber also discussed the fall of online banner and click-through advertising rates. "I think theyre an underrated to build brand and I dont think theyre dead at all," said Spain. "I think theyre going to change in terms of how theyre viewed and may take different shapes, they may be interstitial, and they may have, you know, lots of smoke and shiny mirrors and things. But theyre going to stay."
